Welcome to 2011
Happy New Year to all. Fair Winds and smooth seas for all our sailing endeavours, what ever they may be.
Annual General Meeting
It was the Club's Wednesday 7th December. . If you were unable to attend the main topics for discussion were:
Sailing Coaching/ Training We have established a new sub-committee to look after Coaching & Training which will hopefully improve our effectiveness. The Coaching will be continuing next year on Friday Evenings and Saturday Afternoons. A fixed programme for the training will be produced so that people know where they are. This is open to all members, it is not limited to children. The formal training in Sailing and Power Boating will be undertaken in formal training sessions which in general will be over a weekend. The training on offer is Sailing Levels 1, 2 & 3 and Power Boat Levels 1 & 2. We will issue a programme for the Sailing Training and Kristina is prepared to run Power Boat Courses when there is a demand.
Direct Debit Introduction It is planned that members will be able to opt to pay their bills by Direct Debit over a 12 month period. Forms will be issued with the invoices. So if you want to take part just fill in the forms. Hopefully this will make payment easier, however, because of the introduction of this option the last payment date for your fees will be 31st January not 29th Feb.
Solar panels As you will be aware we have used part of the McIntyre Legacy to install a solar panel system on the Club roof. So far the returns from this installation have been showing a return on our investment of circa 10% pa on our investment and this has been at the back end of the year, so hopefully this will improve when we get a full year in. The money recovered is to be earmarked for development projects so the McIntyre Legacy will live on.
Social You are invited to the Club Christmas Party on Saturday 17th December starting at 19:30. Ther will be fun, games and music. So why not let your hair down and come along. Tickets are only £2. Contact Gail or Kristina Jameson.
Don't forget it's the Prize Giving & Dinner Dance Saturday 21st January. The best way is to get together a table of up to 10 friends. You don't have to be members to attend. This year it will be at the Roker Hotel and you can get a double room if you want to stop over for a very reasonable £70 B&B. Tickets are £25 each and for Juniors (14 - 17) £15. If you want tickets contact Gail or Alan Dixon.
