Honda Rib Challenge
Participants in this event the SYC heats on Wed 2nd June start at 1830. Also the regional finals on Sat 5th June start at 1000

Bank Holiday Cruising
Once again influenced by the weather, The proposed trip to Whitby ended up in Amble, however the three boats participating had a great time. Next Cruise is 11th 12th & 13th June when we propose to visit Blyth and Newton. ( or is that Hartlepool and Whitby) We plan to go away that weekend why not join us.

Lifejackets
As a result of the talk last Monday on Cold Water Shock some of those present inspected there lifejackets, two members have found hat the automatic mechanisms were out of date. These mechanisms have a definitive life and the date should be checked . Guide to checking your lifejacket. Abandoned Boats
A considerable amount of effort has been given this year into matching boats stored in the compound and members, as a result of this It appears that we have three possible abandoned boats. If you own any of the above boats or you know who does, please can you let Corinne Wilson know or email abandonedboat3@yahoo.co.uk If the owners of the above boats are not identified by 1st June 2010, the abandoned boats policy will be implemented. Honda Rib Challenge
Honda Rib Challenge is to be held in at Sunderland Yacht Club on 5th of June. We will be training 6pm Wednesdays and Fridays from 28 April. 8 to 16 age group welcome.

Easter Saturday. Saturday 3rd April : Easter Party organised by Carol Maughan. Includes Gail special either Curry or Lasagne , and traditional Easter games such as egg JARPING and egg painting etc. £6.00

Moorings
The moorings maintenance is now complete. Could all those with that are lifting in with the Club Crane arrange to have there boats either in the water or moved for the Lift In on 10th April.

RYA First Aid Course
We are hoping to run an R.Y.A. recognised first aid course soon, can all interested please contact Eamonn Rooney E-Maill phone 07944103041 or leave details on the notices on the club notice board .It will be a day course and will cost about £32.

Cruiser Fleet Meeting
A cruiser fleet meeting has been arranged for Wednesday 24th March 8:00pm to discuss the 2010 programme the provisional programme is published on the Sailing Page there will be an opportunity to choose your OOD duty date at the fleet meeting.

The Burns night Saturday 27th March has been cancelled

Cub Forum
The original club forum has been hit by a virus and I have disabled the link, Members most at risk are those who have signed up to automatic login The virus seems to be ad ware or spy ware, not particularly harmful but annoying, Members are recommended to scan with a suitable anti virus software and an anti adware software.

Sail Found
There has been a Sail found in the training room. it looks a shade bigger than a Sonata Number 2 jib, hanked up luff, looks nearly brand new (certainly new hanks), in a blue bag, it has been there some time. to claim contact Gary on 07871 693269.

Dinghy Fleet Meeting 27th February
Do you want to help shape dinghy sailing at the Club for 2010? A meeting has been arranged for Saturday 27th February at 2pm at SYC for dinghy sailors and interested parties to discuss any ideas you may have to improve sailing at Sunderland.

Quiz Night
We are again having a Quiz Night, so why not drag yourself away from the telly. The quiz wil be on Friday 5th February commencing at 07:30 The quiz is being organised by Carol Maughan. Abandoned Dinghys
For 2010, the Club will be looking at sailing dinghies in the Club compound which appear to have been abandoned. For owners where 2010 boat compound fees have been paid, a yellow sticker will be sent out for the owner to place near to or on the transom of their sailing dinghy. Where no yellow sticker is found on a sailing dinghy by 1st April 2010, the Clubs abandoned boat procedure will be implemented. The abandoned boat procedures can be found in the Club byelaws, section 13.

News from late 2009
Race Officers Course
We will be running a free club race officer course , on Saturday 30th January 2010. The course will be an informal and informative day for all, and open to both Cruiser and Dinghy sailors, it is a golden opportunity to improve our race management. The course will be run by Henry Wright from the RYA. Any member interested in this course should contact Eamonn Rooney. Email Eamonn Please respond early to book your place as a lot of interest has been expressed in attending this course.
