Club Closure

Published 20:55 on 17 Mar 2020

Dear Members,

I hope at this difficult time this message finds you well. There is no skirting about the issue, as a country we are facing unprecedented times. The most recent government advice on COVID-19 issued on Monday 16th March 2020 was discussed last night at general committee.

In line with this advice, the general committee have taken the difficult decision to close the club at this time. A variety of different options to keep the club open were discussed however it was not possible to see a solution that could keep all members and staff safe.

There will be no access to the club building, it will remain locked at this time.

Access is still available to the compound if you would like to work on your boats but please be mindful of the government's advice to individuals in relation to this.

I would implore any member with any symptoms however mild to stay away from the club for the relevant time period. Please do not take the risk, even just to work on your boat of that you might pass this on to any other member.

Initially this will be in force with immediate effect for 2 weeks. This is however, a hugely dynamic situation and as such is under constant review by your Committee. It may be necessary to remain closed for longer. We will keep you frequently updated. You will receive information by e-mail, on the club Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SunderlandYachtClub/) and we will put updates on the club website (https://www.sunderlandyachtclub.co.uk/) to keep you informed.

Whilst I hope we will be up and running again soon we have to be realistic about the gravity of the current situation. I hope to see you all back at the club soon and hope you all stay safe at this difficult time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself or any of your flag officers.

Best Wishes,

John.
