Try Sailing in May at Sunderland Yacht Club.
Click HERE to see all the fun that was had at the 2018 event.On Saturday the 4th May we will be holding our annual open day. Come down to the club between 10am and 4pm where you can try dinghy or keelboat sailing, enjoy a coffee or lunch with the spectacular views from our clubhouse and find out abut our membership options and training opportunities.
There will be members on hand to chat with you about the club and the facilities we have on offer, some of these members are families who joined at our open day last year and are now regular sailors.
Instructors available to take you out for your first sail in one of our club owned training boats.
All safety equipment provided - wetsuits available to use, if you are looking to try dinghy sailing please bring a change of clothes, old trainers that can get wet and a towel. Changing facilities and showers available.
A number of club members will be available to take you out in bigger boats, last year we had some great feedback from people who went out and enjoyed fantastic views of the visiting pod of dolphins.
We also hope to have a number of stand up paddle boards available for you to try if you fancy a go. There is no instruction available but safety cover will be on the water. Many of our members also have now taken to this increasing accessible sport as a light wind alternative.
The club galley will be open 8am - 6pm serving tea and coffee as well as hot and cold food throughout the day.
Whilst the event is free of charge we have opened a booking facility to help us in terms of managing numbers. Last year we had a fantastic turn out with a number of people joining on the day and hope to make this year bigger and better.
