    A glorious Roker Regatta

    The 2023 Roker Dinghy Regatta saw 2 days of great sailing at Sunderland Yacht Club. Saturday started a little slowly, with boats sat rigged on the beach as the sailors waited patiently for the wind. Thankfully the launch signal came and racing began in a sunny Seaburn Bay. Two races in light conditions. Saturday night was spent at SYC, with great food from the galley and live music. Sunday provided improved conditions

    Sunderland Yacht Club - Roker Dinghy Regatta 2023

    Calling all dinghy sailors! Put the 2nd and 3rd of September in your dairy for what promises to be an exciting weekend of racing with the return of the SYC Roker Dinghy Regatta. The weekend will see a full programme of racing as well as food and entertainment throughout.     SB20 Northern Area Championships at SYC

    Congratulations to David Atkinson and crew winners of the SB20 Northern Area Championships 2023 at Sunderland Yacht Club (SYC). A dark and stormy weekend resulted in a reduced race programme with the PRO (Dave Boatman) ensuring safe sailing time was maximised despite the challenging weather conditions. Competitors enjoyed the hospitality and entertainment of SYC on Saturday evening before heading home on Sunday a little earlier than originally planned. Event Photos

    Get ready for the Roker Regatta 2022

    The next event on the horizon at Sunderland is Roker Regatta on the weekend 9th & 10th of July. Two races are planned for Saturday afternoon and 3 races are planned for Sunday.     North East and Yorkshire Youth Travelers Series.

    Over the 25 th and 26 th of June, the club hosted 28 entries for the NEYYTS. Young sailors from around the region compete over the year in several events which count towards the series. They were treated to some testing conditions over the 2 days. Four Sunderland junior members represented the club over the 2 days showing some real grit and determination in their sailing, hopefully, next year we will see even more. Across

    Jubilee Weekend Sailing

    Sailing Away for the Jubilee The weekend saw something a bit different at the club to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Saturday was our all-classes pursuit race which allowed dinghies and cruisers of all shapes and sizes to compete together on the same racetrack.     Rudolph Regatta

    The 11th December saw the inaugural Rudolph Regatta. This is an opportunity for newer members of the dinghy fleet to run an event, to demonstrate the skills they've learnt thanks to the dedicated and experienced members of the club who put so much in to coaching and improving the fleet. The Rudolph Race Management team had a great day running their first Regatta and would like to thank SYC members for their encouragement and guidance

    Return of the Musto Skiffs

    We had a great time hosting the Musto Skiff Class in the summer and this weekend they are back for an open event. Racing will take place in Whitburn Bay on 23 rd and 24 th October. Look out for them and their colourful spinnakers this weekend. It promises to be a great weekend's racing at SYC.

    UKLA Autumn ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Qualifier Event

    Sunderland Yacht Club was pleased to welcome back the UKLA Laser fleet on 25th and 26th September for the UKLA Autumn ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Qualifier event. The weekend delivered some excellent racing with over 70 boats participating.     Musto Skiff National Championships 2021

    Sunderland Yacht Club is pleased to extend a warm welcome to the Musto Skiff Class for the 2021 UK MUSTO Skiff National Championships Thursday 29th July to Sunday 1st August 2021.
